In all fairness, I didn't set out to drink three shots of espresso. I realized that the grind on the beans was a little too coarse, so adjusted and made another shot. Then another. All three tasted slightly different, too!
This sweater came into being the Sunday morning that I asked Fred, "If you would hypothetically like a sweater, what would you prefer?" I was at a stage where I enjoyed planning out projects, choosing the yarn, etc. Fred liked the sweater I had chosen and away I went! According to the Ravelry project page, … Continue reading Fred’s monochrome sweater (Jón 91149 by Hulda Hákonardóttir)
I found this on Facebook, no credit given. What a neat insight into how stitches are formed!
When I first moved in, we discussed (argued?) for months about what kind of pillows we wanted on the couch. I wanted pillows, I think Fred might have been ambivalent. But these were too busy, those were too boring, these were too bright, those were... I don't even remember anymore. We finally ended up finding … Continue reading In which Hannah decides to sew pillow cases
I loved both of these patterns so much that I had to make more! One of my favorite skirts and one of my very first successful makes was my Sewaholic Rae linen skirt. I wore that skirt all over the world. The biggest issue and the reason I couldn't wear it to the office is … Continue reading A linen Rae and a turqouise Hyss – summery combo
This project seems like it was doomed to failure from the beginning. How did I ever miss the signs? But yet - there is definitely a happy ending! I liked Cake Patterns - I made a ton of Espresso Leggings last year. I needed help with understanding how to handle some wrinkles and the seller … Continue reading Cake Patterns: Pavlova skirt
Wow...it seems so odd to be planning for a fall wardrobe. It feels so odd to be planning a wardrobe at all! Normally I just browsed stores and when I found something that I liked, fit and had a reasonable price, I bought it. Plus - it's the beginning of August. It's really still summer, … Continue reading Fall/winter 2015 wardrobe plans
I'd been eyeing the Muse Jenna Cardi for a while, but really wasn't sure if it would be flattering on me. I wasn't too sure about the contrasting color versions that I've seen around - I prefer simplicity. Also, I'm avoiding anything I need to add a FBA to, as I haven't successfully done one … Continue reading Muse Jenna cardi: my new favorite sweater
I'd had my eye on this shrug pattern (Hyss) since last summer - I just ran out of time/interest to knit it. Then again, last summer I was still on the sock kick. So this spring, when Drops had their sale on wool based yarns, I went ahead and bought a ton of yarn (actually, about … Continue reading Hyss shrug: the black edition
For a while there, I was on a Hitchhiker shawlette kick. They were just so easy to make and looked so cool, especially with the interestingly dyed yarns. Fred asked me if I would make one for his mother. I suggested Malabrigo sock and he chose this gorgeous Lotus colorway. I cast on a Hitchhiker … Continue reading Trillian scarf: subtle and sweet
